Carpet Marks on the Head
Loulou can walk, loulou can climb, Loulou cannot really get off a bed or a sofa yet and going back to ground is often a rather brutal, unplanned and unexpected action so far. This morning, while trying to get off our tiny sofa, Sophia’s head encountered a carpet at terminal velocity, resulting in the aforementioned carpet to get embossed in Loulou’s forehead! First real bruise!
Issue: tomorrow is her birthday party and I fear we might have to cover this bruise with some make up, for picture purposes!

We like hot showers
Loulou, like any other baby, has a tendency of getting dirty. Crawling, rolling, eating. These activities are not really prone to result in a clean child.
Today however, Loulou decided to steal Thia’s tiny jam cup during breakfast and play with it. Alerted by Thia’s screams (“Daaaaddyyyy, she stole my jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam!”), I discovered a purple baby trying to crawl in the middle of our living room (remember, cream sofas), pumped by a recent ingestion of highly sugar rich breakfast.
It only took 2 seconds to grab the little monster, lift her off the floor without getting myself covered in purple sticky paste, get her undressed and deliver her to Sarah who was luckily having a shower at that time…
Loulou has been dying to join us in the shower for weeks now, well, her wish has now been granted…

Happy first birthday!
I cannot believe that it has been a year already since Sophia joined us…
It still feels like it was last month that I was holding my baby girl, feeding her during early night shifts (Sarah doing the late night and early morning shifts), watching “quality” TV with only one eye open, often focused on her.
Something with the second pregnancy/baby is definitely making it feel as if going faster.
In the meantime, she has learned to flip, flop first. Sit on her own. Eat solid food. Drink water, juice and real cow milk and more recently crawl, stand and walk.

Yummy Cake!
Little Loulou is really trying hard to do everything on her own. From walking to brushing her 8 teeth and more recently, eating her birthday cake! No need to say that once this was completed, we washed the entire baby and her clothes, but as this was food, she tried as hard as she could and proved us that she can almost make it!
Thia finished the cake on the next day.
Sarah and I enjoyed the Champagne!

Pocket Witch
It is Halloween, the kids’ preferred holiday and as we already did last year, we joined some of our friends in Pasadena to enjoy an evening of “trick or treating” with the family.
Little Soph’ was obviously part of the party and had as a result to get dressed to go and scare people around.
So I give you here my little pocket witch, Loulou Devil…

Yumm!
What is it with Loulou and Sudocrem (diaper cream, nappy cream, you name it)?
It seems that every time we leave her in a room, on her own with a tub of cream for more than 30 seconds, we find her with a hand in the tub if not both hands.
Well, we have gone one step further here and decided to totally empty the tub and eat it!
OK, I agree, some of its content has been spread on the furnitures and bed around as well, but most of it made it to the mouth!

Walking around
Passed the very first steps, we are now totally mobile. Loulou spends most of her free time (between meals, naps and bath) these days walking around the house, pushing her little walker. Those of you who have been following the first steps of my other little princess Thia will recognize the walker and the multicolored cubes.
It feels good to hear its noise again, banging into walls, doors, pieces of furnitures. The main difference this time is that Loulou has a way bigger space to cover (I’d say 4 times larger) than when Thia was learning to walk.

Climbing is so much fun!
Loulou can stand…
Loulou can walk with the help of her little walker…
Loulou can climb!
And she is extremely fast!
So this is it, Thia’s chair will have to disappear until Loulou learns how to fall gracefully from anything taller than a foot…

Now standing in a chair!
I just realised that it has now been 5 months since I last updated Sophia’s blog! I am such a bad daddy! It is not that we haven’t taken a million photos because we have! It is not because we haven’t spent countless hours rolling on the floor and playing, because we have. It is not because we haven’t celebrated birthdays, teeth and more, cause we definitely have!
It is simply that we might have been short of time!
So I will now make sure that content is retroactively updated and that Loulou’s evolution is properly documented for the pleasure of grandparents as well as local and oversee’s friends!

First time standing ever (almost)
I knew this wold happen but somehow, I didn’t want it to be so early…
Loulou can now stand (which means, she shall walk soon).
We were today at Chris and Amanda’s place in Santa Clarita / Stevenson Ranch, having lunch after yet another visit to our soon to be built house, when at some point, I heard some screams from inside the house. Thia and Sarah urging me to come inside. I rush and I see my little baby girl standing, holding for her dear life to the family room’s mini wall. Too late to get a shot though.
Time to grab my camera and get back and there she is, trying again to stand up and even giving us a grin!
